Code of Conduct

The APN Code of Conduct exists to maintain a healthy community where ideas and knowledge can flourish. All members of APN and the public are subject to the Code of Conduct while utilizing any of the features of our website. Violating the rules in any way will result in consequences including but not limited to the removal of a post or any information available on the APN website, a warning, cancellation of products and services without a refund, and membership termination. The rules are as follows:

  1. No release of confidential information. Any information related to your practice and protected under HIPAA, C.F.R. 42, or other confidentiality laws should not be made available on APN's website or to other members in any way.

  2. Adhere to your professional ethics and code of conduct. All professionals are expected to abide by the ethics rules and code of conduct enforced by their licensing or certifying agency at all times.

  3. No profanity is permitted at any time.

  4. APN does not tolerate unlawful harassment or any mistreatment in our community on the basis of sex, race, color, nationality, ethnic or national origin, ancestry, citizenship, religion (or belief, where applicable), age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, veteran status, marital status, genetic information or characteristics (or those of a family member), or any other category protected under applicable federal, state, or local law. If you feel you are the victim of harassment, discrimination, or mistreatment, perpetrated by someone in the APN community, call our corporate office and report the matter immediately at (888) 823-2233.

  5. APN does not tolerate sexual harassment of any type. If you feel you are the victim of sexual harassment, perpetrated by someone in the APN community, call our corporate office and report the matter immediately at (888) 823-2233.

  6. No posting or disseminating information known to be false, untrue, or misleading.

  7. No spam or unsolicited marketing to members of APN. Informational posts relevant to addiction professionals are allowed in several community forums.

  8. Be respectful and courteous at all times. Passion and strong opinions are tolerated in the community forums and other areas of the APN website, products, or services, but communications must be respectful and courteous.
